Governance is part of the EDF Evaluation Matrix for our design. It deals with Equity, Transparency, Open & Free, Context Accommodation, and Cooperation.

Equity

“The product (or service) generates, during some steps or its whole life cycle, positive interactions or benefits for the stakeholders.”—EDF Evaluation Matrix

D.R.I.P.S. technology is intended to be sold and manufactured at the local level. Hopefully inspiring new entrepreneurial tendencies.

Transparency

“The product (or service) features and functions are clear in order to be fully used, at each step of the life cycle, without deceiving the stakeholders. Furthermore, environmental and societal communication of the company have to be relevant and accurate.”—EDF Evaluation Matrix

D.R.I.P.S. is designed as a long lasting, single-purpose water-collecting device whose functionality and utilization is easily understood. Any additional possible uses have not currently been identified.

Open & Free

“The product (or service) accessibility encourages its diffusion and/or its appropriation, or even its personalization.”—EDF Evaluation Matrix

D.R.I.P.S. is composed of readily available resources and does not incorporate a high level of technology. It’s design solution can be easily reproduced and customized.

Context Accommodation

“The product (or service) is convenient for various situations, in a fast moving world: technological, environmental and political changes.”—EDF Evaluation Matrix

D.R.I.P.S. is a simple solution to a fundamental problem. Obtaining water in arid environments will continue to be an issue even under fast-changing conditions.

Cooperation

“The product (or service) idea or invention is the result of an upstream collaboration resulting from the project (co-invention, co-design), or a downstream collaboration (continuous improvement, co-evolution)..”—EDF Evaluation Matrix

D.R.I.P.S. project is a downstream collaboration where the products design will be continuously improved following data obtained during its use.
