New Behavior/Scenario is part of the EDF Evaluation Matrix for our design. It deals with Information and Education, Shared Use, Relevant Lifetime, and Human Proximity.

Information and Education

“The product (or service) implements actions to preserve the environment and/or to reduce social inequalities in order to develop sustainable behaviors.”—EDF Evaluation Matrix

D.R.I.P.S. project is designed to allow the poor and hungry in arid environments an affordable means to practice subsistence farming where it wasn’t otherwise possible to do so in an eco-friendly manner.

Shared Use

“The product (or service) encourages the exchange, the lending or the mutualisation of goods, knowledge and/or skills.”—EDF Evaluation Matrix

D.R.I.P.S. technology is designed to be shared. This includes the distribution of food grown through D.R.I.P.S. systems through a single family or community to the manufacturing capability itself.

Relevant Lifetime

“The product (or service) lasts the necessary (short, average, or long) time to fit users expectations.”—EDF Evaluation Matrix

D.R.I.P.S. systems are designed to last. Reusable and easy to replace, D.R.I.P.S. can continue to provide its intended service for as long as needed.

Human Proximity

“The product (or service) targets and/or involves local people/communities.”—EDF Evaluation Matrix

D.R.I.P.S. project aims towards having D.R.I.P.S. systems being created by the local communities at the sites where they would be implemented; however, once installed, they are intended to be low maintenance.
