Raw Materials is part of the EDF Evaluation Matrix for our design. It deals with Proximity, Recycled Origin, Renewable & Plentiful, and Limited Quantity.

Proximity

EDF Evaluation Matrix doesn’t provide a definition for this item.

The D.R.I.P.S. will be manufactured in the proximity of where they will be deployed.

Recycled Origin

“ISO 14021 defines recycled content as the proportion, by mass, of recycled materials in a product or packaging. Only pre-consumer and post-consumer materials shall be considered as recycled content, consistent with the following usage of the terms:

  • Pre-consumer material: Material diverted from the waste stream during a manufacturing process. Excluded is reutilization of materials such as rework, regrind or scrap generated in a process and capable of being reclaimed within the same process that generates it.
  • Post-consumer material: Material generated by households or commercial, industrial and institutional facilities in their role as end-users of the product, which can no longer be used for its intended purpose. This includes material returned from the distribution chain. For the purposes of the calculation, the term “product”” refers to the final product as delivered to the construction site and incorporated in the works.”

The D.R.I.P.S. will be manufactured using 100% recycled plastic.

Renewable & Plentiful

“The resource abundance is estimated following its presence on the earth’s crust, its availability in 100 years, and the extraction easiness (search time and energy used for extraction).” —EDF Evaluation Matrix

The D.R.I.P.S. will be made using 100% recycled plastic which is very plentiful and readily available.

Limited Quantity

EDF Evaluation Matrix doesn’t provide a definition for this item.

Nothing in the D.R.I.P.S. is rare or limited, so there shouldn’t be a limited quantity of D.R.I.P.S. able to be produced.
